The newly opened five-star hotel in Helsinki

by Oliver Lind, Hotel Researcher
This luxury hotel is set in an 1885 building and strikes with its historical design and Spa Suites with Finnish saunas.

The newly opened five-star The Hotel Maria - Preferred Hotels & Resorts adds a luxurious new chapter of Nordic hospitality in the historical Kruununhaka district in Helsinki

The hotel’s name refers to the Grand Duchess Maria Feodorovna, born Princess Dagmar of Denmark. A true cosmopolite of her day, her personality was taken as an inspiration for the graceful aura and interiors of the hotel.

The Hotel Maria has 117 rooms and 38 suites, and all, given the historic nature of the buildings, are slightly different in size and layout. They range from basic guest rooms to Imperial Suite and Spa Suites with either steam rooms or Finnish saunas. The interiors blast with the grandeur of crystal chandeliers, light-filled spaces, and the profound presence of history.

The Hotel Maria also hosts two restaurants, the state-of-the-art Maria Spa and an in-house boutique with signature pieces by Finnish designers for purchase.
