A new beachfront Waldorf Astoria hotel opened in Cancun

by Oliver Lind, Hotel Researcher
Located between lush mangrove forests, the Waldorf Astoria Cancun radiates the 1920s glamour vibe, combined with a beach atmosphere and Caribbean flair.
Besides the exotic jungle settings and stretch of white-sand coastline fronting the hotel, this location has more advantages than you think. The hotel is only 15 minutes from the Cancún airport.

The design of the 173-room Waldorf Astoria Cancun is impressive. Everything cascades to the Caribbean Sea from the glass-walled lobby, soaring ceilings, rich furnishings, sculptures, and decorative touches perfectly reflecting the local setting.

Another aesthetically pleasing area is two large swimming pools overlooking the ocean. The pool bar is open every day till 6 pm and has health-forward cuisine. The menu highlights fresh ingredients and light dishes for proper al fresco poolside dining.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa is another gem of this hotel. The setting is exceptionally peaceful, with 21 treatment rooms surrounded by lush tropical foliage and bamboo groves. There is also a swimming pool and signature treatments inspired by authentic Mayan beauty traditions based on the Ceiba tree. Other perks of the hotel's wellness are regular yoga classes, a sun salutation ceremony every Monday morning, Pilates, and much more.

The Waldorf Astoria Cancun has a variety of dining options. Malpeque is a fine-dining restaurant with an open-flame grill that serves creative dishes with char, smoke, and flame.

Chaya is a guest's favorite morning spot since breakfast here changes regularly.

Ja'o is a poolside restaurant with a great interior and a menu inspired by outdoor Mexican cantina cooking. The restaurant has an expansive selection of boutique agave spirits, local beer, refreshing wines, and a full bar.

Peacock Alley is the signature Waldorf Astoria bar and a great place for meetings and specialty cocktails.
